The number as assigned by the clerk shall be displayed immediately adjacent to a front door fronting on the street in the front of the structure or building. Such number as assigned may appear in numbers or be written out in letters, and shall be placed either over or on either side of the door; provided, however, that such number shall be placed or displayed at least four feet high from the base of the door.
