Chapter 8.20 JUNKED MOTOR VEHICLES
8.20.010 Definitions.
For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms,
phrases and words shall have the meaning given herein. When not inconsistent
with the context, words used in the present tense include the future, words in
the plural number include the singular number and words in the singular number
include the plural number.
A. "Abandoned, wrecked, junked or dismantled motor vehicles"
means any motor vehicle described in subsection D of this section which does not
have lawfully affixed thereto both an unexpired license plate or plates and the
condition of which is wrecked, dismantled, inoperative, abandoned or
discarded.
B. "Abandoned, wrecked, junked or dismantled vehicle" means
any vehicle described in subsection H of this section which is not being
utilized for its manufactured or intended purpose and has been discarded,
abandoned, wrecked, junked, dismantled or partially dismantled, including parts
thereof.
C. "City" is the city of Columbia Falls.
D. "Motor vehicle" means every vehicle propelled by its own
power and designed primarily to transport persons or property upon the public
streets and highways of the state.
E. "Person" means any person, firm, partnership, association,
corporation, company or organization of any kind.
F. "Police chief" means the police chief of the
city.
G. "Private property" means any real property within the city
which is privately owned.
H. "Vehicle" means every device in, upon, or by which any
person or property may be transported or drawn upon a public highway or upon
private property, including trailers, semitrailers and travel or camp trailers,
as well as machinery used in farming, logging, excavating, but not including
mobile homes presently utilized for human habitation. Such term shall not
include a bicycle, but shall include motorbikes, motorcycles, motorscooters,
tractors, go-carts and golf carts. (Ord. 463 § 1, 1985)
