6.04.020 License required.

A. Every person who owns, keeps, or harbors a dog in the city must annually obtain a license therefor from the city treasurer and shall pay to the city treasurer for such license the sum of three dollars for each neutered male dog and spayed female dog, and ten dollars for each unspayed female dog and nonneutered male dog, and all licenses issued hereunder shall be renewed on the first day of January of each year.
B. No license required by this section shall be issued for any dog until the city treasurer has been furnished with a certificate of a licensed veterinary stating that such dog is protected by vaccination against rabies for a period of at least one year from and after the date of application for such license; provided, however, that such vaccination requirements may be waived if less than six months remain until the next licensing period; and, provided further, that no license shall be issued for a spayed female dog (or a neutered male dog) until the city treasurer has been furnished with a certificate that such female has been spayed or male neutered, except renewal licenses may be issued as to such female or male without the production of such certificate on each application for a new license.
