2.44.020 Nomination certificate-Signatures required.

Such certificate must be signed by electors residing within the city, in the case of nominations for mayor, treasurer, and judge, and within the ward in the case of nominations for alderman. The number of signatures on the certificate must not be less than five percent of the number of votes cast for the successful candidate for the same office at the next preceding municipal election; however, in case of certificate of nomination for alderman, the number of signatures shall not be less than five percent of the number cast at the next preceding municipal election for the alderman from that ward who shall have been elected with the lesser number of votes. Each elector signing a certificate shall add to his signature, his place of residence, his business, and his business address. (Ord. 290 § 2, 1971)
