On July 1, 2005, the City of Columbia Falls separated from the Tri-City Planning Department
and now plans for its own jurisdiction. The new Planning Department is called the Columbia
Falls Planning Department. The Planning Departments goals are to guide the physical change
of Columbia Falls to create and maintain a safe, healthy, attractive and vital place to live and work.
The Columbia Falls Planning Department recommends and implements policies which guide the physical
and economic development of the City toward the achievement of community goals. The Department
ensures the City's viability through enforcement of land use, health, safety and environmental regulations.
Our Purpose:
- Administer the long-range planning projects, such as the Columbia Falls Growth Policy
- Manage the processing of land development applications in conformance with the City's planning goals
- Enforce various ordinances that promote the health, safety, and appearance of existing buildings and neighborhoods
All of these functions are coordinated to improve the City's economic viability and enhance the quality of
neighborhoods within the community.
